Nearly half of US teens mutilate themselves.

Monday, May 12, 2008, 04:56 PM PST [General]

Nearly half of US teens mutilate themselves.

According to a study conducted by Brown Medical School and The Miriam Hospital, published in Psychological Magazine, forty six percent (46%) of teens admit to cutting or burning their bodies…biting themselves… or picking at their skin to draw blood.  Teens who do it says that the physical pain distracts them from mental or emotional distress.  Other teens feel that self-mutilation gives them a feeling of self control over their lives.

Almost half of all teens you know feel so bad about themselves that they are hurting themselves.  As a Certified Hypnotherapist I have been working with people to overcome bad habits, fears, weight management, stress, self esteem, confidence, etc.  It breaks my heart to think that many of the adults I treat have been living in misery for decades.   It’s sad.  They are lucky that when I work with a client it takes only five sessions to help them overcome their problem and feel good about themselves…Finally.

I wish I could have worked with the older clients when they were younger; before they took their bad feelings and added bad habits to distract them from their pain.  The more parents know about what is going on with their child, the more the child can be helped.  Most people have found adolescents to be a difficult time in their lives.  Some people live with the pain forever.  THEY DON’T HAVE TO!

I am the foremost expert in working with children and teens, utilizing hypnotherapy in Southern California.

As a former middle school special education teacher, I am especially skilled at building rapport with parents and children. I love working with children, even those that others find "difficult." I find it truly rewarding to help young people permanently improve their self esteem, confidence and ability to learn, and overcome issues related to emotional problems, motivation, anger management, fears, anxiety and trauma. Taking care of these issues early can prevent even bigger issues later.

Does your child/teen suffer from any of the following issues?

      Misbehaving

      Self-Mutilation

      Sadness

      Poor School Grades

      Fears

      Low Self-Esteem

      Anxiety

      Moody Behavior

      Emotional Issues

      Low Confidence

      Anger Issues

      Lack of Motivation

      Experienced Trauma

How does hypnotherapy help with child and teen issues?
Do your children have issues? If so, hypnosis can be used to help in many ways, including helping children:

Ø Learn to love themselves and treat themselves with kindness, so they can grow up knowing the truth, which is that there is nothing wrong with them. All children – including your child – deserve to grow up happy.

Ø Eliminate anger and gain control of their reactions, so they will make smart decisions and remove hostile or aggressive behavior.

Ø Desire to be confident and successful in all facets of their lives, so they can set goals and achieve their dreams. Hypnosis can help children improve their grades and their attitude towards school and family.

It is important to help children as early as possible, as early intervention prevents the child from becoming an adult with far more serious issues. The techniques I use give your children the tools they need to maximize their potential and eliminate bad behaviors. Hypnosis can help children and teens live happy and healthy lives. I turn bad habits into good habits, confidence and self esteem.

    My New Hypnotheapy Practice

Monday, December 10, 2007, 05:04 PM PST [General]

I am pleased to announce that I have opened my own practice.  I am now the proud Hypnotherapist at TRANQUIL SOLUTIONS HYPNOSIS.  I am enjoying being on my own, despite that fact that I dont have the Banyans' around to ask questions to every 5 minutes.  My business is starting to thrive and I find my time focusing more on working with tweens/teens.  It is rewarding and parents love to refer me to their friends.  I love it.

To my old friends, please drop me a line to say hello!

    Marc

What makes someone a great hypnotherapist?

Friday, September 7, 2007, 12:02 AM PST [General]

In my last blog, I detailed five things that make someone an effective hypnotherapist.
I made many valid points. In my zeal to brag about the excellent training I received from Cal Banyan at the Banyan Hypnosis Center, I did not give credit to the other great teachers, innovators, and founders of hypnotherapy. That was a mistake.

I had the opportunity to meet many of the other greats in hypnosis at the NGH convention. Their work and contributions are so meaningful to me.

I know we can all agree that my other points were quite valid. Hypnotherapist should be professional, well trained at doing quick inductions, and spend the appropriate time working with their clients. I know we can all agree that in addition to direct suggestion, age regression therapy, forgiveness therapy and parts therapy can be paramount in helping our clients solve their problems and shift the way they live for the better.

Respectful discussion and debate is beneficial to all of us. This website exists so we can all learn from each other.

    Respectfully submitted,

    Marc

Identify a great hypnotherapist from an ineffectua

Thursday, September 6, 2007, 05:57 PM PST [General]

How to identify a great hypnotherapist from an ineffectual one

    1. Do the hypnotherapist and his/her office reflect courtesy and professionalism?

    2. Does the National Guild of Hypnotists certify the hypnotherapist, after rigorous studying, testing, and evaluations?

    3. Is the hypnotherapist a certified 5-PATH® practitioner?

    4. Can the hypnotherapist induce hypnotic relaxation within a few minutes? Any longer is a waste of time. Long inductions takes time away from the real therapy and is used by poorly trained hypnotherapist. They waste time by spending 30 plus minutes getting someone into a state of hypnosis and without knowing how to test and accurately gauge the depth and capability of the hypnotic state.

    5. Does the hypnotherapist understand that direct suggestions are temporary? 5-PATH® hypnotherapist use direct suggestion in conjunction with other hypnotic therapy, such as removing anger, fear, sadness guilt, or frustration. Clients should be coached to recognize the unrealistic perceptions they have of themselves and their life. A great hypnotherapist knows that many people hold themselves back from being who they truly are. This limits their potential for success and happiness

5-PATHTM hypnotherapist go on to show clients how to free themselves from the past and create their own future. They complete therapy in about five sessions and are free from their bad habit, are now anxiety free and have a higher self-esteem. In other words, hypnotherapy help people live well balanced lives.

The Banyan Hypnosis Center For Training & Services, Inc. also teaches 5-PATH® Hypnotherapy Certification to professionals and aspiring professionals. Banyan Hypnosis Center has a comprehensive training program that is offered about five times a year in its school in Orange County, California. Students can also become certified anywhere in the world by participating in the live online classes. Another popular method of becoming a 5-PATH® Certified Hypnotherapist is to buy a DVD of the prerecorded training course or other such materials. Did you know that the Banyan Hypnosis Center For Training & Services, Inc. is having a 5-PATH® and 7th PathTM training course beginning on Monday October 1, 2007. You can take this invaluable course live, online or in our training facility in Orange County, CA.

I will also be teaching a 7th PathTM Self-Hypnosis class on Saturday September 15, 2007. This will be a one-day class from 9 am to 6 pm.

    About the 7th Path Self-Hypnosis®
It is the first self-hypnosis program that we know of that allows you to first remove the old programming that blocks success.
    • There is an old saying that goes something like "you must first empty the cup before you can put anything new in it." One of the problems with other forms of self hypnosis is that the hypnotic suggestions that you give yourself must go up against years of old programming. The old programming does not want to go, and the new suggestions are rejected time and time again before, through many repetitions, the new suggestions are finally accepted (or maybe not even then).

Removing the old programming first helps to avoid this and tends to make the new suggestions more powerful. In addition, sometimes, when you remove the old programming you just start to feel better and even without additional hypnotic suggestions. Many practitioners will begin to achieve their goals, especially if they have to do with health, automatically. It seems that once the old programming that got in your way of being successful is gone, your own natural programs for health just seem to start working better than they ever did before. As a result, you just tend to start taking better care of yourself, and old patterns such as addiction begin to fade away (i.e., smoking, overeating, alcohol abuse, etc.).
    • Using old fashioned self-hypnosis is like planting a new flower garden in an area that is full of weeds. The new flowers wouldn't have a chance because the old weeds have a head start. They would choke off almost any chance that the new flowers had to take root and grow strong. It makes a lot of sense when you think about it that way. You need to remove the weeds (and the root) so that the good plants and flowers (new useful thoughts, beliefs, feelings and behaviors, etc.) can survive and grow.
It is especially designed to utilize an individual's own belief system.
    • If you are a spiritual person, those beliefs can be a very important part of your changes. Especially when the changes that you want to make will make you a better or healthier person. If you are not really all that spiritual in your belief systems, that is okay too. You can benefit from the 7th PathTM system by simply using making a few adjustments, which you will be shown how to do.
This is an especially easy approach to using self-hypnosis.
    • It's easier than learning ordinary self-hypnosis from a book because when you try to learn it from a book, you always wonder if you are really doing it right. The way it works is that a 7th PathTM trained hypnotherapist teaches you the techniques, including how to go into hypnosis, while you are in hypnosis! Then when you first emerge from hypnosis, you immediately use the technique to take yourself back into hypnosis. This is the easiest time to go into hypnosis. Results are almost automatic! The hypnotherapist is there to make sure you are doing it right and to answer any questions that you might have, right then and there.
What can 7th PathTM help with?
    • Overcome bad habits such as smoking, nail biting, excessive snacking, procrastinating, and over sleeping.
    • Create new habits such as exercising regularly, self-motivation, being more patient with others and more.
    • Self-improvement such as improving self-confidence, reducing stress, public speaking, overcome fears, and more.
